View Full Version : Which CRT Moniter
I dont usually ask alot of questions, but I'm wonder what CRT moniters you guys like? Sony? Samsungs? etc..
What would you guys recomend?
This Sony:

Or this ViewSonic?

And they are both around the same price tag, and the sony seems to be discontinued.

Honestly it doesn't matter as long as the specs are good. I have a 19" Envision Flat Screen that is awesome. .25mm dot pitch. So I would say any monitor that is a flatscreen and has a .25mm dot pitch or smaller would be a good choice.

The first thing to make sure is that it has a 3 year warranty :)
Most monitors have the same kind of specs but always double check ;)
The ViewSonic has a .21 DP. While the Sony has a . 24 DP. But sony has their Trinitron technology and all. I need a quality moniter, since I game alot...

I'd take the viewsonic, only because alot of my sony products are breaking after warranty is up.(brand new 3 disc changer/reciever just went bust after a year:( ) I use a viewsonic 17" CRT BTW.

I agree that alot of Sony products seem to be going downhill. Mine was a refurb. but I had a 17" Sony Trinitron quit working on me after only 15 months. Talk about a waste of $150.
I decided to go for a Samsung 957MB. Best resolution, refresh rates, and bandwith I could find. Also has some neat features like Magic Bright.

I like veiwsonic. There monitors always seem to keep going. Not sure about the quality of a samsung. What I find interesting is...at work we have over 230 users:
10 - NEC/Mitsubishi, replaced 5 of them, only 3 years old
120 - veiwsonics, none replaced...oldest one is 4.5 years
25 - dell, none replaced
40 - optiquests, 25 replaced
and a few others
Just thought I would share this.
Samsung seems to top notch in moniters, their LCD moniters have some of the few responce rates.

I Must admit the Samsung Monitors are Good. Tesco is doing the 17" TFT for £399. Which is quite a good deal as TFTs have gone up in Price in the UK.
