View Full Version : "Play DVD" error

I sent a few games to this guy and he has been unable to get them working on his 360. The games are: Alan Wake, LEGO Harry Potter, Red Dead Redemption and Singularity. He doesn't know what firmware he has and he doesn't play on XBL so I patched them with the wave patcher. The games worked fine on my console (iX 1.41 non-stealth) and fine on the consoles of others I have sent to. However, he just gets a "Play DVD" message when he inserts the game. He is running the latest kernel (2.0.9919.0). His other, older 360 games (including CoD: MW2) - which I also sent him - work fine. These are all on "Made in Singapore" Verbatims.
I know there was a console update that was required to play wave 4 games (even originals) but I assumed that was included in the kernel update.(?) is that correct? Any other ideas?

Sounds like wave patcher didn't fix the problem. He needs the drive updating to LT which will work with all games, patched or not (same as non-stealth).

The games are patched and work on other consoles with older wave-checking firmware - but not his. My only thought is that there is some other update (such as the one on MLB 2K9) that isn't included with the kernel update. He doesn't have that game though and I don't know which other games contained that update.

"Play DVD" (in this case) means that the firmware on the drive is rejecting the discs as badly stealth patched. It has nothing to do with the kernel version of the console.
middlem - I replied to your email this morning but it's come back to me as undeliverable.

"Play DVD" is the same error you get if you try to play a wave 4 game on a console that has never seen XBL or a wave 3 game - and that is with an original, not a backup.
As I already stated, these games worked fine on my console and some of the same games with the same patch worked fine on stealth firmwares. So are you aware of a specific firmware that won't work with patched games because I am not?
