need help please

i have just tried installing far cry but it wont let me select install only play.now it was on the pc but i had to take it of.so it thinks its still on the pc.the dir were it was installed is no longer there.but when i go to add remove programs there it is.if i select remove a box come on with a line that goes across for about a second then goes off.how do i fix this?need to get the game back on.

i did have to do a system restore but the old restore points have been cleared.

Removing the uninstall entry from your registry should do the trick.

cheers m8 now sorted it.i deleted everything related to far cry from the reg and it now lets me install.

Little bit late but uninstall keys are found at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

Generally this is what a program checks to see if it is installed or not.

For future reference, an app like RegVac will find the bad keys for you (amongst other things) easily and gives you the option to move them. Also has an Add/Remove feature to remove items that are no longer on your PC. :)
