Confused with my xbox 360????

I had my xbox 360 re flashed with 1.61 not long ago so as to play Assassins Creed 2 and all was fine,but I now I have Alan Wake and it says on screen I need to update to play the game ,but it wont update to play.

Should it play with the 1.61 flash or do I need an activation disc or does it need flashing again???

This is a Console update I would imagine.
The latest firmware for liteon is iXtreme_LT you could try that.
It may be though that the ISO has been patched and is looking to do a dash update but it's not on the DVD because it's been ripped/replaced to an older version.
Did you rip the ISO yourself? If you have a WEB image (burned to DVD) it maybe not right. Run it through ABGX to see what that makes of it.

Hi my mate burned it for me.so not to sure the source,the game is on the disc as when you click the y button on the controler for details,so I think the console update is not on the disc,if this is the case can I sort this by using another wave 6 disc in the console to update it .

if you dont need activation disk the game should run and update ur console fine, so sounding like the game you've got has been altered, i cant think why it would have been changed though. well unless he wavepatched it or something.

Thanx Benvo I think you have hit the nail on the head,I think he has wavepatched it thinking I havent had it flashed with 1.61.

There seems to be some confusion here. Patching a game from say wave 5 to wave 2 does not remove any update data from the disc. It simply allows the game to boot on a firmware that utilizes wave checks. It was wave patched, the game would boot on your console - not the other way around.

The version of iX that you are running - 1.61 - only supports up to wave 4. This is why Alan Wake will not play on your console. Alan Wake is wave 5 or above. You will need to either: (a) use the activate.iso or (b) read the disc, patch the image to wave 2 and then burn it again.

I have sorted it now,borrowed Prince of Persia, and it updated the xbox then I tried Alan Wake and it loaded fine ??????

So I dont know but it works now so I am happy now I have somthing to play now.
