only if you unlock the hdd before you unplug it, otherwise the drive will be locked and unrecognized by the computer.

Here is a procedure for you ( I used the latest Evox 35XX dash and the Exectuer 3981 Bios)

Took me about 5 mins after I made the appropriate disk I used EVO-X

I made an evox disk with the lock/unlock HD command active and HD formatter to install the new drive. click here for a great tutorial on how to do this (http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install2.php), for the lock/unlock command all you have to do is remove the comments in the .ini file)

1. Select backup from the evox menu window (if you already havent done
that so you have the HD info so you can lock and unlock)
2.Backup your C & E drives that you currently use to your CPU (also make
sure you have a backup of your original)
3. Boot with the modifed exox disk and unlock your original HD
4. Put the new drive in (make sure the jumper is on cable select)
5. Boot with modified evox disk again and choose format new HD
6. FTP C & E drives over to new HD from CPU
7. Put all apps in F
8.Restart your HD with that evox disk and lock your HD (Needed if you want to use xboxlive)
9. Restart again, then Enjoy :round: :bouncing: :round:

*note I would leave your orignal drive intact since its only 10GB and you can always revert back to that one if anything goes wrong but if you really need the extra 10 GB of space and want to use it go for it

Skip step 3 if you dont want to reuse your HD for anything else other than your xbox

I reread you post you just want to install your larger HD you dont need to use norton ghost on it just ftp your c and e drive from your cpu. If you want to read the HD in your computer you have to unlock it first, that is what step 3 was for.

Ok so i really am being silly now.

Please lol.

My xbox is soft modded. If i wish to upgrade the boxes hdd. Can i just copy the content of the hdd to the new one. Or do i still have to change bios's upgraded evox etc.

I am happy with my soft modded box i just want to create some more space with a larger drive. I cant see why as it is soft modded i cant just mikrror the drive to the new one ??????

Please help, the link ps2daddy placed is great but loses me a little because it is more geared up to a hard wired mod chip rather than a soft mod ?

Best

My x box is soft modded.

It has standard x box hdd

I want to change it to 120 gig drive so i cna add further games and emus to the hdd.

Can i take the drive out mirror it using the pc and transfer all the info to the new drive.

Then put my new hdd in and expect it to work allowing me larger space to work with plus carrying over my soft mod intact ???

Also can i damage anything swapping the hdd ?

You might want to try reading a tutorial on xbox-scene on replacing HD with a Softmod

xboxhdm v 1.9 with the ude 2 will allow you to format a new hd with a softmod you must save the eprom info and completley install and lock new drive before installing it in the new xbox you must put it in a pc to accomplish this

*Update (works for xbox versions 1.0-1.5 only not 1.6 though you need the method in post above for that)
Merry X-mas!
