Today I had a power cut and now I cant load my pc. I'm running Windows XP Home. When I turn pc on I just get a black screen telling me it could not open windows and the options of run windows normal, go to last known good, or load in safety mode etc but I have tried them all and it temp goes to xp screen and then back to black screen. Getting desperate now. This is a friends pc I'm using to send this message.

See if this page (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314503) can help. You will need a Home XP setup disc.

Yep ... you really need to beg, borrow or steal an XP installation disk, otherwise you are a bit stuffed ;)

Ask and thou shalt receive. :)

Your friends might have a copy to let you borrow to use with your legit key.

Did you not get a Recovery CD or any documentation with the PC ?

Is it a shop bought, branded PC like HP,Dell or ? ..... if so it could have a hidden partition, from which you can restore back to Factory settings.
