right i bought this router off ebay and it was never used the owner said.
i have connected it to my lappy running vista with the lan cable with no joy,so i tried to connect to it wirelessly which it seems to do fine.
i try connecting to it as in the manual it says use 192.168.2.1,but it just will not connect for me to put my settings in,which is so frustrating believe me so any help would be appreciated :)

thanks for any help :)

There is a reset button on every router to reset it to the default settings when it shipped from the manufacturer. Normally the button is in a small hole that you will need to use a pin to press and hold it for about 10 to 15 secs. I believe the previous owner has set its IP to something else so you'll need to do a reset to bring it back to the default settings.

The manual (http://en-uk-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/769/kw/f5d7632-4/r_id/166) said you need to press the reset button for about 20 secs to reset the router to the default settings. :)

When connected to the router run a tracert to a website from the command prompt and it'll tell you the ip of your router to be able to login and change all the settings to whatever you like.
I had that router when we first got adsl and it was pretty good and easy to use.
