For the mobo, go to this page (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=JHVbJNNqGgWK0S4Y) then click the Download tab and choose your OS. The Vista drivers should work fine for Windows 7.

For the video card, please go to this page (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us) then select:

- Product Type: Legacy
- Product Series: nForce 4 Series
- Product: nForce 430 / GeForce 6150
- Operating System: Vista 32 or 64 bit depending on what you're running.

Nope, we don't want to update the BIOS unless we really need to. Please read the BIOS history from the link to see if you need the fixes or enhancements the new BIOS provides then update to the new version if you do.

Try rightclicking on the desktop to open the context menu then select Personalize. Choose Display to customize the desktop.

iv given up and if u look outside you might just see the pc flying through the air! looks like my dad wont get an updated pc for new year after all.

i reinstalled windows7 used the realtek 2.39 drivers and it seemed ok but the gfx drivers have done me!
it all seemed ok until i changed the desktop picture, the screen just kept going black then back to normal, then black then to normal.
i thought maybe because windows had updated the gfx to chrome9 drivers so i restored to standard vga drivers but still the same problem.
just unable to find the correct drivers for this!

I believe the problem was because the onboard video card didn't have enough memory to run the Aero desktop. The default shared memory to the video card is 64MB whereas Aero requires at least 128MB (256MB preferable). You'll need to go to the BIOS and change the shared memory to at least 128MB (Page 2-23 in the manual (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/A8V-VM_SE/e2928_a8v-vm_se.pdf)).

TBH I didn't unsderstand the problem much from your 1st post but after reading #5, I guessed that's the problem.

Your mobo has the VIA K8M890+VT8237A chipsets, Realtek RTL8201CL 10/100 LAN and Realtek ALC660 5.1 audio. You need to download and install the VIA Hyperion Pro driver (http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOTHERBOARD/Others/VIA-Hyperion-Pro-4-in-1-Driver-524A.shtml), the Realtek 10/100 Network driver (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=7&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false) and Realtek HD audio drivers (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false).

After installing these drivers, please check Device Manager to see what else are still missing.
