60 gig ps3 problem

son says his ps3 is getting read errors when he tries to play games.
then sometimes it will work for 20 mins then freeze ?

is the laser on its way out ? if so is will sony repair it free or do they charge a hefty price. or can somebody do it quite easily

sounds like laser is going, am sure I've heard of them fixing it for free, give them a ring, it's quite a quick process on the phone and they will tell you if they think they will charge you, I phoned them recently about a 5 year old camera which they fixed for free

sony repair is 99 pounds including collect and return

gone up a bit to £111.50p or £131 if u just a want a swap , ive done 3 of these this week and all you need to do is replace the laser which is dead simple
