When you folks are printing labels/covers for your cds/dvds/cases, do you use inkjet or laser?
Just curious cause I have inkjet only and wanted to see what other folks thought about their inkjet done jobs.
I'm sure laser would be much better, but how would inkjet turn out on glossy paper?
Alright or no?
Thanks
i use a HP deskjet (inkjet) 960c for my covers on kodak premium photo paper and the results are superb. the only downside is when printing all black covers i.e Dr. Dre - 2001 they tend to stick to the case as it takes about 3 1/2 weeks for it to completely dry

I don't think that's true, today's injet's (even the sub $100 models) produce beautiful results on the right paper with a good source. The only downside is that they may smudge when wet and may fade in direct sun light (although with the newer models and ink's this is much less of a problem). I'm still using an older Epson 740 (which I got for less than $50 with rebate) with Epson's paper. The results are outstanding and with better photo results than the $2000 Laser color printers.

I use a sharpie pen.
Soon there are gonna be dvd writers that can etch a cover on the top.

That wouldn't be the case if you used HP paper. Believe it or not, Kodak is basically a generic. Each mfgr makes their inks with different formulas. HP is water based, with pigmented black, where Epson uses alcohol based dyes. The manufacturers make their photo papers, which are actually not paper, but polyester, to maximize drying, adhesion, and fade resistence. If you compare the two side by side, you can really tell the difference.

ill try some HP paper.. its just my uncle works for a publishing firm and gets kodak either dirt cheap or for free. i checked b4 ands its 40p a sheet for the kodak stuff and boy am i glad i dont pay that
but kodak does give me what id call near perfect results
Try dusting your covers with talc if they stick a bit. Never done it myself, but apparently it works a treat.

Laserjet only gets used for business. I print my labels with a Canon F50 Bubblejet on Fellowes high-gloss labels. They look excellent. Laserjet would of course be better, but you can only spend so much on your backups, ya know? ;)

On ebay you can get canon ink carts for $1-$2. I got 5 for about $12 with shipping. HP carts are more.
