Yes, it's OK.

Make sure choose the "Upgrade" option when you install XP Pro.

Indeed, btw your prabally going to end up reintalling most of the programs, since the registry will be overwritten.

make sure you've got a backup drive or at least a ghost image before you do this.
always a chance it goes horribly pear shaped.
