You can use the Vista Broadcom wireless LAN driver from here (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3316440&lang=en).

Please open Device Manager to check the WLAN. Do you see the item Broadcom wireless LAN in Device Manager? Rightclick on it then select Peoperties. Does Windows report the device is working properly?

Sorry mate was out for 20 mins..

No the broadcom does not show in device manager. Under Network adapters just Nvidia nForce Networking Controller & below that "Other Devices" yellow exclaimation marked CoProcessor. Right clicked properties Drivers not installed. (Code 28)

It might tell you that the chipset driver was not installed. That's probably why the wireless was not recognized even though you already installed the driver. Now if you go to the link in #2, you'll see an nVIDIA chipset driver. Please download and install it then reboot the laptop.

Installed, rebooted and also just reinstalled the Vista WLAN driver to be certain. Chipset has solved the CoProcessor issue but still no wireless. Last resort is just returning it to Vista but Ive lost any liking for Vista since Win 7 released :(

Just to add all devices are showing a fine in Device manager but the wireless network does not appear for some strange reason.

Did you see any item (in Device Manager) that has a yellow ! ? Under Network Adapters, do you see the wireless adapter there?

The wireless adapter might be bad. You can add a USB wireless n dongle.

no mate all devices are fine but the wireless adapter is not showing. I now also suspect a dodgey card but to be certain before i give it back I will re-install Vista tomorrow so Im certain where the problem lies. Again your help is much appreciated Van

Also, make sure the wireless switch (if there is one) on the laptop is in the ON position. :)

I think the dongle has the same chipset with the built-in laptop wireless. If you give me the make/model of the dongle, I will check to see why it didn't install.

The manual can be downloaded from this page (ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/wg111v2_user_manual.pdf). The driver can be downloaded here (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/713). Please refer to section 3 in the manual for instructions on the installation of the adapter. For most USB adapters, you'll need to install the driver first then plug the USB device into the USB port unless the driver setup tells you to insert the device during the installation.

Sorry Van seems a bit of confusion. What Im saying is the built in wireless on the laptop I was having issues with started working when I run the drivers for the above netgear usb wireless dongle. Strange to me but just happy its sorted

Sorry for the misunderstanding :) . It's great that the dongle is working OK. You can get the latest driver from the link above.
