Did you use the external power adapter for it? I think the USB port on the PC doesn't provide enough current.
no matey, there isnt one with it or to plug it in:(

If it doesn't come with a power adapter, you'll need a USB Y adapter like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270226&cm_re=usb_y_cable-_-12-270-226-_-Product) so you can connect the external drive to 2 USB ports on the PC to get more current for it.
yup got 1 with it matey and using it:(

Please connect the drive to a USB port on the PC, rightclick Computer in Windows Explorer then select Manage. Open Disk Management in Computer Management. Does Disk Management see the drive with or without a drive latter?
no there isnt matey,i dont think there is enough power like you said as with the 2 usb leads plugged in it does try and spin.
ill have to try messing about with it:)
thanks for your help matey as is much appreciated:)

If Disk Management doesn't see it, like you said, the USB ports don't give enough current to run the drive. I also have a Seagate portable drive that drew a bit too much current and I had to use a powered USB hub to run it.
