The GeForce Go 6400 is an older generation of the nVIDIA laptop GPUs so even drivers for Vista are almost impossible to find unless the laptop manufacturers provided them or Windows has them. Please open Device Manager in Control Panel to see if Windows could recognize the video card properly (i.e. GeForce Go 6400). If Windows could see it correctly, it's just a matter of adjusting the settings for your desktop and for the video card. The GeForce Go 6400 supports DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0 so it should work well with Win7. However, some features on Win7 such as Windows Aero require at least 128MB of video RAM, 1GHz CPU and 1GB of system memory so make sure your laptop meets all these requirements.

cheers m8 for the reply

in control panel i have no exclamation mark. it sees it as a standard VGA graphics adapter only.

Then Win7 does NOT have a built-in driver for it. Please tell the version of Win7 you're running (Home Premium, Pro, Ultimate, x86 or x64).

I'm about to leave for lunch in a minute. I'll try to find the driver when I get back in about 1hr. :)

Please download and try this driver (http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/video_cards/companies/nvidia/models/geforce_go_7300/5294.html). It's for Vista x86 and I believe it'll work for Win7 x86 also.
