Ive got a Shuttle SK41G, had it a few weeks, and its fine apart from running really hot.
At first I had the fan set to smart fan but it got on my nerves literally speeding up every other second so since then Ive had it on medium, as loud sounds like a jet plane in my room.

After being on for about a day which is obviously enough time for the temp to stabilise it is as follows:

Board Temp - 51 degrees
CPU temp - 56 degrees
Power/Aux temp - 49 degrees

now im sorry but the CPU and board are too hot for my liking! I thought the shuttle PC's were meant to be really cool? Could I fit a better fan or something? Cus I dont want my CPU that hot...the other day after a long Champ Manager session it was 61 degrees!

Running a 1900+ btw..which surely isnt the hottest CPU in the world?

Any help appreciated

How many fans do you have running? and are they sucking and blowing? (awaiting VS's comments :) ) Also it is starting to get warm out, which means its warmer inside, which means higher cpu temps. Do you have thermal paste on the cpu?

Not much help to you, but I'm running an intel sb61/2.8Ghz with 37, 37, 42...... it hits 57 under load. I know AMD runner hotter than intel but I couldn't say how much. Have a look at the sudhian forums for more info on shuttles.

My SB51G P4 2.4 533fsb runs around 40-44 C on hot days, less on cool days.
Was rather quiet until I put in a radeon 9500 pro, now it is much louder, to the point that I might just go with the onboard graphics or a fanless graphics card (it's the wife's so graphics aren't as important as low sound to her...).

Kinda disapointed that the sound is that much louder, read many reviews that had high end cards in this shuttle and never mentioned the increase in sound level.

Could it be possible you did not put enough thermal grease on the heatsink of the heatpipe?

just the one fan going, the one on the end of the Ice Pipe thing..and theres no room for any case fans etc in it as far as I know

I did read somewhere about someone replacing the fan that comes with it with a more powerful, quieter one, but i dunno where Id get that

Will take it apart 2morrow maybe and put some more grease on it, yeh maybe I didnt use enough

Didnt realise weather affected it so much tho...and its true...cus its a nice cool night, Ive been using the PC for ages and its at: board: 49, CPU: 54, PSu: 47
