Updating maps on a TonTon Go 720

I'm wanting to crack my tomtom so I can download the latest map from newsgroups.

I'm NOT asking how it is done, as I'm sure that's not allowed on here but I just need to know if it's possible.

Have tried Googling it but nothing apart from a couple of wild goose chases.

So, is it possible?

hi mate, did you manage to sort this?
I updated the map from newsgroups and put it in the tom tom folder. now nothing works. even when i put the original map back in ;-(

yes this can be done, done it my self a few times, not sure if i'm allowed to post how to do it or not???
