My sons 360 has cracked two discs in the last week and chewed around the inner hole on one of them. The thing is its only originals its done this to.
Is the drive on its way out or are original game discs different from blanks in size.?
The console is less than a year old so should still be under warranty but its flashed and i dont know if i want to take the chance sending it back to ms.

It shouldn't be doing that but as it's less than a year old it'll presumably be a LiteOn and there's no way to reverse the flash on these - if you send it in to MS with a drive fault they will most likely test and reject it.

I would recommend getting a replacement flashed drive. I can do a brand new LiteOn preflashed and ready to drop in and use for £30 delivered, or £40 if you want to send the console and I'll fit the drive. I'll need the firmware from your old drive to flash the new one.

my old one used to do this and i found out only with originals.its because its where you put the games into the case and the clip that clips into the hole of the disc inside the case,if you get a slight crack in it and it only has to be slight,it gradually gets worse.i would put your games in a sleeve instead of in and out of the original cases.my cod 2 and fifa nearly broke in 2,but never had a prob with any of my backups in the same console.

Sway i think you could be right. Ive told my son to use his folders that he uses for backups.
Chris if the problem continues ill be intouch m8. I got the console from u to start with so if need be ill be intouch.

In that case it's free as I give a 1 year warranty, the only charge is for postage. I'll have a record of the drive key here, so if you're happy to fit the drive yourself you won't need to send the 360 off at all.

Chris i think its just what Sway said. Ill give it a couple of weeks and c if he uses his folders. ive told him to but teenagers tend to do what they want.

cheers

Do you have the 360 mounted vertically? If so, it's a bad idea and well known problem with the 360. Mounting it horizontally would sort it in that case.

I haven't heard the word 'dis' in about 10 years. hehe

No offense taken. That's why I asked if it was mounted vertically, in which case you would have a simple solution. Since it is not, you have a hardware issue.
