Use your laptop's serial number to find the drivers on this page (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp). Or use the Browse All Downloads tab.

I don't know which Windows version you're running so please try this driver (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?ref=step&st=browse&platform=10022&model=11326&os=10394&type=10096).

it's XP sp2...this is turning into a bloody nightmare...the lappy is my mates, he's lost the discs that it game with...it was originally Vista but the hd fell over, so I replaced it and installed XP
The model number printed on the casing is W340UI, then there's a blue sticker as well with MT3712b on it...tried inputting the serial into Gateway's site, says not recognised - serial is N1976T1069751, a UK serial - I'm assuming Gateway US site won't see it because it's a UK model...Gateway UK has NO driver support that I can see.
Everest tells me that the sound device is an ATI SB450 High Def...I dl'd this driver (R2.29) http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false but no joy.

Your audio card is a SigmaTel so the ATI driver doesn't work. Please download this driver (http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/Gateway-SigmaTel-Audio-Driver-51046474.shtml).

I've known you for a long time, bud :D . I'll post the link to the wireless some time today if I can find out what brand it is.

After a bit of searching and some swearing :) (dam n GW!), I found that the wireless used on the laptop is probably a GemTek Broadcom BCM4318E (http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/wireless_networks/companies/broadcom/models/bcm4318e/index.html).
