thinking of going over to sky hd......is hd much better than standard television(virgin cable) ...i have a hd 42 in tv

even channels like Sky One & 4HD look better when they are showing upscaled SD programming.
Take a look at what you watch the most and see if they are broadcast on an HD channel otherwise there's be not too much point, although the HDMI connection improves the SD channels slightly.
The movies & sport are brilliant in HD and ESPN have said even their Premier League games will be in HD although these days I watch the footy by streaming online (I support Leeds, why would I want to watch the Premier League?) and I download films in HD so I've cancelled my HD subscription and just use the box to watch BBC HD & 4HD (and ITV HD when I finally get the EPG update)
