View Full Version : why wont some dvds open on laptops?

i have a weekly music dvd that opens in my pc but not my laptop, can anyone tell me why? and can it be resolved?

Did you try running them on Windows Media Player? If you're talking about autoplay, you'll need to open AutoPlay in Control Panel to set the autoplay options to your liking. Are you running XP or Vista?

its not just to play them but to be able to burn them with nero

It might be caused by a bad drive or by some problems with the SATA/IDE controller. Try uninstalling the IDE or SATA controller in Control Panel (depending on if the DVD drive is SATA or IDE) then reboot. It's also probably because the drive doesn't like the media, try different media brands.

yep ..... sounds like an "iffy/picky" drive to me.

Try reburning one of the disks on better quality media and see if this helps.
