Since i installed norton personal firewall, on startup i get a message which says:-

"The procedure entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library SymRedir.dll."

Its very annoying and i would like to get rid of it. But still need the firewall.
This has only happened since i installed the firewall, and also happened to a friend when i installed the same firewall on their computer with the same disc.
I am running windows 2000, and my friend was running XP.

Taken From Symantec Site :

Situation:
Norton AntiVirus (NAV) is installed as a stand-alone product or as part of Norton SystemWorks. After running LiveUpdate and downloading a Symantec Redirector program update, you see the error message "navapw32.exe - Entry Point Not Found" followed by "The procedure entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library SymRedir.dll." This error may also occur during restart after installing either Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall over an existing copy of NAV.

Solution:
This error is caused by a conflict between the Symantec Redirector program update and a prereleased or beta version of NAV. Prerelease or beta versions of any Symantec software are not supported by Symantec. Contact the vendor that you purchased the software from to request a released copy of NAV.

To determine whether you have a prerelease or beta version of NAV, examine the version of Navapw32.exe. If the version of Navapw32.exe is less than 8.0.0.58, then you have a prerelease or beta version of the software. (For example, if you have version 8.0.0.41, then you have a prerelease or beta version of NAV.)

To determine the version of Navapw32.exe, follow the instructions under the section that applies to your version of Windows:

Windows 98/Me/NT/2000

Click Start, point to Find or Search, and then click Files or Folders.
Make sure that "Look in" is set to (C:) and that "Include subfolders" is checked.
In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, type--or copy and paste--the following file name:

navapw32.exe
Click Find Now or Search Now.
Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
Click the Version tab.

Windows XP

Click Start, and then click Search.
Click All files and folders.
In the "All or part of the file name" box, type--or copy and paste--the following file name:

navapw32.exe
Verify that "Look in" is set to "Local Hard Drives" or to (C:).
Click "More advanced options."
Check "Search system files and folders."
Check "Search subfolders"
Click Search.
Right-click the file, and then click Properties.
Click the Version tab.

Prerelease AV programs don't seem to be the best choice in the first place. Try AVG, avast, or some others if you don't want to buy the real deal.

I agree with wiz, if you don't want to spend the money and buy off the shelf (which it sounds like you don't) - use one of the many free solutions out there - Avast (evidently the best free AV software), AVG and Antivir are all good free AV solutions while Psygate and Zone Alarm are good free firewalls.
