This problem has been going on for almost 6 weeks. It affects my sisters connection .

It started when she was with virgin. she is unable to connect to her server(virgin) Her modem/ router shows that she is connect to a broadband connection ( solid green light) but she is unable to connect. After 2 weeks of support(joke) from virgin her connection to them was restored ,,,, for 2 days and then it went again. She was told that there was a fault at her local exchange as it has just been upgraded. After another 3 weeks of virgin trying to fix the prob with no success, she changed to plusnet hopeing that a new provider would not have a problem with her connection. Yesterday I connected her new modem/router supplied by plusnet and she has the same problem, plusnet are saying its a faulty modem/router,and are going to send another one, but I know otherwise.

Is there a way of contacting the bt dept that is responsable for our local exchange to try and get them to have a look into this problem, as I can see its going to be drawn out into another epic problem by plusnet?

Try changing the router's MTU setting to 1492 bytes (she needs to log into the HTML admin control of the router to change this setting).

Hi Van. She,s running xp, but plusnet have confirmed that it is a problem with her local exchange, so its back to waiting on them now to try and sort it.
