help - Got a Laptop that keeps logging off as soon as it logs ins

basically i got my sisters laptop which is faulty

basically the laptop logs on and before i can see the full desktop - icon start menu etc it logs off again and logs on again and off

you can teel it does this by the sound it makes when logged on it makes that log in sound and when when log off obviously it makes that sound

throughout all this all i can see is the desktop and that it

have tried in safe mode as well and same thing appears as well?

any idea plz

Make a bootable CD of the MS Memory Diagnostic (http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp) tool then boot the system up with this CD to test the memory. Remember to switch to the extended test mode (by pressing the key T) while its running.

May be she has done a virus check and/ or removal before handing it over to you?

I'm facing exactly the same problem/s with too many clients in recent times... Though I never recommend but fresh installation is the only way to go!

If you have any of those boot CDs like ERD you can use restore points to switch back to infected state and re-do the removal of infection to land up in to the same situation again... Humm..!! :saywhat:
