View Full Version : 2 users on xp pro, hide others my docs???

how do you set up so another user on the same computer cant view anothers "My Documents"

I noticed xp home gives you the option but i cant find it on xp pro.
On any user account you can click on my computer and access any other users documents :( not good

i see a make folder private check box but it doesnt let me choose it? why can this be??

Are you logged in as administrator when trying to tick the box? If you are on a standard account it wont let ya do it.

Once logged in as admin, go to the folder, right click on it - go to properties and under the security tab you can "deny" access to selected users. (or in the right click menu go to "sharing and security...", same deal).

Of course, you do need to be using NTFS ...
