Probably a easy fix but I can't find it :(
Basically whenever I switch on PC it loads the default drivers HD sound driver that comes with windows - However the sound will only work if I install the Realtek HD drivers, which means I have to start PC change drivers and reboot every time I want sound.
Any help?

Try this goto Device Mangler and find Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio :
1. disable UAA
2. uninstall UAA
3. scan for new drivers
4. install Realtek HD Audio Codec Driver

Unless you mean default MS HD audio drivers which I have disabled, uninstalled and installed the Realtek Driver to get it to work several times

Not sure then .... if the system is a few years old, see if there is a bios update, as I recall having a similar issue with Vista not retaining drivers after a shutdown and the bios update solved things.
Failing that, see if Van has any ideas, when he comes by.

your realtek audio should have jack plug detection so you should only need to unplug the speaker jack then plug it back in rather than uninstall and reinstall the driver.
out of curiousity, do you have an HD compatible video card? this tends to happen a lot when the optional audio drivers for the actual video card have not been installed.

Yep, you need to tell the make and model of the motherboard if this is an onboard sound card so we can find the right driver for it.

I had a similar problem with sound and other drivers after a fresh install...
I used DriverMax (http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax)(Free)to scan my peecee and it will then direct you to FREE driver updates.
fixed me up a treat... hope it helps:tup:
