i may be wrong about this as i haven't done it myself but i think provided you get the hd key and eeprom from your current hd (use the back up option in evox- it'll generate the 4 unique files eeprom, hd key and can't remember the other two) then you can use slayers to format the disc (select large hd).

ive got the hd key and eeprom from my current hd, but where do i enter them?
as i tryed reformatting hdd then putting back into xbox, but i get a error 09, i even tryed putting slayers into xbox dvd drive, but it still goes to error screen? (red flashing light)
so im sure somethink has to be done to drive before installing into xbox?

i've done this to 4 m8's xboxs now using newer X2 bios files that support large harddrives
all you got to do is buy a hardrive, oem will do,open xbox, unplug orginal harddrive, plug in new one,put in slayers disc either cdrw or dvd, reboot console and it'll boot from slayers with options to format, install evoX.
why would you want to fomat on pc 1st anyway?
after that you use the app called configmagic to lock the harddrive, which is only needed if you intend to go on microsoft live,if not you don't need to lock it
just make sure the Microsoft bios is upto date and supports large harddrive support, last 4/5 release of the X2 bios all support this makin hardrive upgrades VERY simple

Burpy is exactly right. I pull HDDs from a pc all the time. Throw it in the xbox load up slayer and let it go to work.

well my alladin has a exox 2.2 bios,
however id like to flash it but i think its write protected, so i cant update to a newer bios,
a link to my modechip is here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/modchips/aladdin_diagrams.html
i need to try and update th bios on chip thats why i think i cant swap for a bigger hdd

what did you try to flash the bios with? Evox may not like cheap mods which i think the alladin is
Theres a modified version of xflash called "Xflash for SST49lf020 v2" which I used to flash my cheap mod
It may be that your chips is write protected but give this a go, just make sure you use a 256k bios as thats what the cheap mod derivatives use

my xbox is a £5 cheapmod with latest bios,i use evox to flash the cheapmod with no trouble,
SOME cheapmods may have a plastic clip that is stopping you from flashing, but without taking the dvd drive out you won't know if that is the reason, have a look,if there is a plastic clip take it off, then you should be able to flash with a 256k bios file as nimbles says
