Just got a Blu Ray and want to get a 5.1 but how do i connect my other components to play through the 5.1.

I need to connect a Mini Mac - iTunes for audio and Sky + (not HD).

My thoughts are Blu ray via HDMI to 5.1, 5.1 HDMI to TV.

Sky via scart to TV, and Mac Mini via VGA and mini jack to TV.

Then to get the sound back to the 5.1 when using Sky or Mac Mini connect the TV audio out to the 5.1 audio in.

Anybody know of a better way.

Cheers

what inputs does your amp have?

preferably it should be:
Blu-ray HDMI to amp (if it has HDMI input), if not then optical
Sky+ optical to amp
Mac Mini optical to amp

basically, your amp needs to have 2 or 3 optical inputs and an HDMI input (although you can use a 3rd optical instead but this isn't as good)

I only have 1 optical input on my amp and no HDMI so I have the PS3/Blu-ray via optical going to a switch which also has my PC plugged into it
I have Sky+HD with an optical cable going into a converter to change it to coax which then goes into the 5.1 coax connection on the amp

Thanks for the reply...

The Amp will have 3 HDMI in and one out.

The Mac Mini doesnt have an optical O/P, it has DVI and mini jack for sound. Currently connected via a VGA converter to the TV and sound via Mini jack from Mac to TV.

What i cant work out is how the sound from the MAC to the TV will get back to the 5.1 amp if i leave it directly connected to the TV.

Thanks
