Is this possible without the original disc in the drive yet?

If so, is it possible to play from an external USB hd, or only from the 360 hd?

360 is flashed with iextreme, about 18 months old (1.4 i think)
Not updated the dashboard yet.

Unfortunately not. Only option is still to have the disc in the dvd drive to play from the 360 HDD.

i think its better for the drive, less hardware failure for microsoft, and im sure ive seen somewhere that people were getting at microsoft for buying a game, then the 360 scratching it, putting it on harddrive will reduce this, i would of thought. Obvioulsy what ive said is from what ive read and my own opinion.

As Benvo said.

Anything that extends the life of the drive is a good thing but essentially I think the major reason (for MS) was to sell more hard drives.

I just stick with my 20GB and put 2x on there at a time.

The new dash is nice and has some improvements but at the cost of more 'in your face' advertising as in Spotlight and What's new sections, now when I load the box up I instinctively just press up away from the Spotlight pages.

Yeh I'd spotted that thx Ogs - the main annoying one is Spotlight as it's a compulsory default whenever the dash loads - not too much of an issue, as I said I hit up automatically now lol I still think it's worth if for the HDD loading feature, even with my tiny 20GB.
