Connected the XB360 to my new panny plasma v HDMI cable
how the hell do i connect the sound to my surround sound ( dont want sound to come out of TV)
I was gonna use the white / red leads out of the original lead that the xb360 came with but both this nad the hdmi cable will not plug in together as they get in each others way!!!!!
Any ideas please??
i could be wrong mate, but i think it might have to come from your tv:(.
im my opinion mate as this is just my opinion mind as some will agree and some will disagree, but i would just use the normal hd lead that comes with your 360 as i have had 2 360s running through my tv at same time and never really seen the difference between hdmi and the normal hd lead!!!!!!
another thing you could try is the vga port in your tv if it has it,as the vga leads for the 360 come with the same red n white rca connectors that are on the normal hd lead....
all you need matey if you decide stay with your hdmi cable,is a lead from your headphone socket of your tv into your surround system,as mine is connected like that but i dont know if its true surround sound then though.but it will be the same as using the rca connectors on the hd lead as they are only a left and right channal
cheers

The only way to get the digital surround from the 360 is through the optical out, either through the componant/vga leads or there is an official adaptor that will fit into the AV port on the 360 to output optical when using HDMI. I've also read that if you have an amp that takes HMDI inputs then that carries the digital surround too
There is another way to get the sound out through the AV socket on the 360 and that's to remove the bulky plastic case that surrounds the componant/vga lead (if you have a spare) and that will allow you to fit that as well as the HDMI lead and give you the optical output for sound, a bit of a dodgy looking result but does the trick
