Keeping my stuff private

[a cast of 1000s]

am living in a house share, wired connection (for next month or so, then wireless)to 1 of 2 networks installed here

my question is, can the network admin see what I'm doing while online, and also see my hard drive ? - and if so, how do I keep myself private ?

He could see your HDDs but I doubt that he'd be able to know what websites you visited.
