Warranty on xbox 360 with 3 red lights

Just had an xbox given , but it has the 3 red lights ( I can repair with x-clamp ) , But thought seeing as it had the microsoft sticker still in place & date less than 3 yr on back of xbox I would try and sned it back .

So I was registering it online , but it said there was an error , so foned them and he said that because I wasnt the original owner they wouldnt repair it for free and it would cost me approx £60 http://www.bst-secure.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif
I took it to game and he said without a receipt that they wouldnt do that exchange for £30 thing , but he said that microsoft should still repair for free within the 3 yr ??

Well when i had a problem they changed the names over for me, could ring up and try for someone different saying you've bought the console can you change it into your name for warranty.

Another thing if not, say you bought it from gamestation, a pre owned model and theyve told you to phone up m$

don't mention it's faulty!!

just that you've got it 2nd hand and just want to register it in your name.
as soon as it's showing in your online account, you can then file for repair ;)

i did that and got a brand new unit back with hitachi drive ;)

I have just foned a game store in a different town and they will exchange it for £22.99 . ( the wty sticker has 20th dec 2005 on the back , and wanted to sort something b4 its over 3 yr ) .

But I have another one that i will fone and put in my name :wink_santa: , then try after xmas to send back to m$
