Hey guys/gals, I need help with Opera.
I've always used IE, but IE isn't working for me for the last 3 days.
I just installed XP 4 days ago too.
I went to upgrade XP after installing, and then IE just stopped working.
If you want to know the exact error message, I'll post it up.
So I decided to try Opera out. I got a full version of Opera.
Now, I'm again trying to do a Windows Upgrade for security patches and what not.
I get this screen: (Using Help & Support)

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.

Windows Update uses ActiveX Controls and active scripting to display content correctly and to determine which updates apply to your computer.
Tell me about active scripting and ActiveX controls

To view and download updates for your computer, Windows Update should be listed as a Trusted Site in Internet Explorer.

To add Windows Update to the trusted sites zone:

On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
Click the Security tab.
Click the Trusted Sites icon, and then click Sites...
Uncheck the "require server verification" checkbox.
Make sure the following URLs are listed in the Web Sites list box:
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://*.windowsupdate.com
Note: If you need to add a URL to the Web Sites list and the Add button is disabled, contact your system administrator.

And when I just try double clicking on Windows Update, it automatically uses IE to open it but IE doesn't work for me so it won't open.
And Opera is my default browser now.

How do I do this under Opera? Is it possible to use Windows Update in Opera instead of IE or is it only available in IE ?

Thanks.

unfortunately i think windows update has to be carried out through IE, i've had the same problem using firefox- think you may have to get IE working as opposed to rying other browsers- remove and reinstall it in add/remov prog's (in the windows section on the left)
