hi all
i am looking to get an xbox 360 but was after some advice before buying.
i want to get one and get it flashed to play backups, i have been looing in the shops and on ebay and BST etc but dont know what is best? should i get one with a hard drive or without? should i get an older version that can be flashed or wait until the supposed firmware update come out around xmas?
it is for me so i am not in a rush to get it before xmas so do i wait for the deals after xmas or get an older one that can definitely be flashed?
any advice is appreciated

I would personally get one that can be flashed for sure and I think the HDD is a must. Keep in mind I rarely even play my 360 so for me RROD isn't much of a concern. I got my 360 new last xmas w/ a BenQ drive. I don't know if the new ones have the RROD issue corrected.
Wait til 09 and get a premodded LiteOn, they can be flashed, they work well :)
Best RRoD protection, chance of the jasper which is cooler, modded with latest formware (1.5) and get a HDD as games can be loaded to it.

when are they likely to be available?
Its in beta testing now, public release on the 24th of december but no-one will be shipping pre mods over xmas period ;)
I see you have bid over at BST on a spoofed one...My advice is wait until the new year and get a LiteOn iXtremed one.

Buy as best as you can. Jaspers sold out fast & I don't know what protections they have.
RRoD is not an issue anymore with the new units, like with hdmi ports.

that's not true, it still happens, just less frequently. the new units also still suffer from e74 error a lot.
