360 DivX playback, is it posible from DVD?

Is it possible to play DivX films burned to dvd on a standard 360 Arcade without hard drive?

Yes, but only if you've been online to download the divx update. If you try to play a divx movie, it'll ask to connect and download the update.

Do you need xbox live sub for this divx update or will it automatically connect as long as an internet connection is established on the 360?

There is a way of using an 'new' gamertag and using this gamertag 'offline' after its grabbed the codec, or thats how it was before NXE.

Of course, you need to be 'online' to get the codec on said gamertag, a banning wont help you with that :)
