Hi guys,

A mate of mine asked me to build him something so that he can bring up album artwork on his TV and play his music from there and in a seperate comment, said he wanted to also buy a blu ray player.

I suggested a HTPC to him, which I think would do it all in one hit. I haven't built a HTPC before so am after some advice.

He will only really be using it for what i have mentioned above, he has no need for watching TV through it or being able to record. Just basically using it as a glorified jukebox and playback of Blu Ray disks and HD downloads.

Given this, I think I can manage with choosing cases/cpu/cooling/ram etc. Its the graphics card/audio that i'm unsure about. He has a 50" Panasonic plasma to connect it to, so it will just be HDMI to HDMI. As he is not going to play ANY games on it, presumably he won't want anything too crazy, power wise.

Thanks for taking the time to look guys. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Moving this to Home Entertainment ..... you'll probably get a better response here.

Have a look at this thread (http://www.compuhelpforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22638) ... post #62 (http://www.compuhelpforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22638&page=3)details the spec that was finally built.

Stevaton had issues with optical out, but if your mate is using HDMI, this shouldn't be an issue.
