Yesterday I tried to put a new memory stick in my PC (i had 266, and installed a new 512) than i switched on the PC and i managed to get to windows (XP) and windows told me it found a new PCI device which it tried to install. I checked the system information and i still had memory of 256 so I switched off the PC and tried to switch the two memory sticks with each other, but after that everytime i switch on the PC I get nothing on the monitor, I have checked the cable between the PC and the monitor and the connection seem to be fine? I have tried all combinations of the memory stick, even leaving the 256 on its own like it was before but still nothing

any ideas as to what I should do?

Try clearing your BIOS (either by pressing delete on startup or taking the BIOS juper on the motherboard off for a minute and then back on again).
It may have mucked up your timings or something on the memory.

Hi M8, you have not said what processor you are running, or whether you unplugged the Pc or just switched it off, some pentium MoBos stay live even tho there powered down on the Pc case switch. does the Pc make any beeping sounds when its trying to boot up?

Is the PC still powering up - fans coming on etc?

As well as what the guys said above, it wouldn't hurt to just have a check around and make sure all you haven't unseated any cards / connectors in your travels.
