usb problem

My usb ports have been running fine as USB 2.0 but today when I put a mini sd card in with a USB adapter it gave the message that the device could run faster if attatched to a USB 2.0 output, I am running XP PRO, anyone offer advice to what the problem could be. Thanks.

Original XP Pro with no service pack does not support USB 2.0. Make sure you have at least SP1 installed.

If you already installed the service pack and the mobo does support USB 2.0 but still have the problem, open Device Manager to remove (uninstall) all USB host controllers and root hubs then reboot the system. This is to give Windows a chance to refresh the USB drivers and hopefully it will fix the problem.
