dvd-rom + cdrw question

i have two drives
dvd-rom
cdrw

which one do i put on teh dvd-rom and the cdrw:
CS- cable select
SL-slave
MA- Master


:)what i want to do is like i want to put like a movie cdr or a game on top of dvd-rom and a blank cd in cdrw. And use clone cd to do "burn on the fly":)

My friend told me to do this:
dvd = master
cdrw = slave

You should have them on seperate IDE channels if you are going to burn on the fly. Either way though, I would always set the burner to master and the reader to slave. Cable select only enters into it, if you only have one drive in your PC.

what do u mean buy a seperate IDE channels

i have this ribbon the end connected to the mother board, the other connected to the top dvd-rom and the otehr in teh middle slot i put in for cdrw.

-the ribbon cable has 3 slot.

if this is that the way to do copy on the fly, how would u set up to make it seprate

I mean you need a seperate cable running to each one. ;) For CDs you probably could get away with having both of them on the same channel though. Anyways, why not give it a shot. Set the reader as slave and the writer as master.

haha, it did not work
it read by cdrw buner, but not my dvd-rom
quess i got to get seprate cable
i dont have any more space to connect the motehr board to cdrw.
what do i do

Should be able to have a HDD as primary master, the DVDRom as primary slave and the CDRW as sec master.

PCI cards and optical drives as a rule don't tend to get on that well together. If you do buy something like the above then your best bet would probably to put your HDD's on it.
