External HDD drive asking 4 driver?

I have an external HDD and on my laptop it finds the drivers automatically but on my pc upstairs it wont recognise it at all and i don't have a driver for it.

Any suggestions?

PS. Laptop is running on Vista and upstairs is XP Pro if that makes a differance

Unless you are running the original XP with no service pack, XP-SP1 and later do not require USB 2.0 driver, assume that your external HDD is a USB 2.0 one. Please download and run XP-SP3 (http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/windows-xp-service-pack-3.html) to update your Windows XP if you've not updated it to SP3. If SP3 doesn't solve the problem, please tell the make/model of the external drive.
