Hi guys any advice on the way forward?? fire fox of IE?
Ive only used IE but heard of so many good things about fire fox.
Is it better to swap to fire fox? I no the search plugs have been now sorted for bst posting etc. Is it much more better than IE?

Personally I like Firefox though I have to admit that IE7 seems to be a big improvement on the older versions.

You can run both Firefox and IE on the same computer so why not install Firefox and see what you think of it ;)

If you install Firefox be sure to install the IE Tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419).

Good luck.

I use Google Chrome, million times faster than Firefox and IE, starts up in no time and is nice to use. Can't wait for the full release

It's all I use now, all websites work fine with it that I use

Chrome is definitley the fastest browser there is, you can now get a version of it without google tracking you http://www.downloadsquad.com/2008/09/24/iron-chrome-for-privacy-fanatics/

I use firefox for 99.9% of browsing, IE is used only for the occasional site that isn't coded correctly for ff - which is pretty rare nowadays.

One of the reasons Firefox has become popular is you can install the plugins (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7) to add more features to the browser. Only you can determine whether or not Firefox would work better for you than IE so if you wish, you can install it and play with it for some time to see if you like it better. If you don't then it's very easy to remove it from Windows.

Edit: and wait for the new IE8. :D

You're welcome! Both IE and Firefox are supported by most websites. Be careful when we test a new browser as it might not work right when we visit some websites.

Plugins I use for firefox:

Cookie Button (makes allowing cookies very quick/easy)
Ebay Negs (right click on ebay user to show only neg/neutral feedback)
Flashblock (controls whether a page shows flash objects or not)

I like IE7 a lot as far as usability. However, it crashes at least a few times a day and my system has already been compromised twice because of it. I also have Firefox but it's got memory issues. I have used Opera too and that was unstable to the point of actually requiring a reboot at times.

IE7 is still not supported by some websites btw. It is only within the last month that I am able to fully utilize all but 1 of my credit card sites. That one I still need to use FF for. There are about a half dozen others I access monthly that do not fully work with IE7 also.

However, it crashes at least a few times a day and my system has already been compromised twice because of it.In most cases, IE crashes because of conflicts caused by the add-ons. Try to disable some suspected add-ons from the Tools menu till we find the bad guy. Another thing to try is to reset IE to the default (original) state from Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset button.

Just to really complicate things, don't forget Opera either - still a great browser though you have to use IE compat mode on some sites for it to work/display properly. :D

Just found a new firefox plugin to add to the list, it stops those 'Intellitype' highlighted word links that pop-up when you hover over them (the really annoying ones) and a bunch of other ads too.

It's called Adblock:

I went back to firefox to test a site today that I thought was down, it took forever to load up and forever to load the site, compared to chrome, loads within a second and pages take next to no time to load, once it becomes v1.0 then add ons will become available

I use IE for everyday browsing. Active scripting is disabled to eliminate the possibility of infections. I maintain a "Trusted Site" list the allows full browser capabilities on those sites.

I use Firefox for suspicious looking sites and sites that require scripting (I refuse to enable this in IE).

I also have Opera installed but usage has been dramatically reduced due to increasing incompatibilities with some web sites.

Google Chrome is not an option. This browser is garbage.
It is insecure which makes it extremely vulnerable to exploits. Several of these vulnerabilities have been addressed with recent releases.

Not to mention that Google is the ultimate collector of personal information and Chrome makes it that much easier for them. Read the EULA.

I would suggest that Chrome users UnChrome (http://www.abelssoft.net/unchrome.php) their browers to maintain anonymity.
