Use the Verify option (if clonecd doesn't have one, use ImgBurn) - then at least we know the burn is good. If the disc verifies and the original backup works on your 360, then we have a good idea of where the problem lies.

Don't think so, only after burning.
CloneCD should work fine for disc to disc backups, I've used it before.
Try doing it "On the Fly" instead of making an image in between.

You can with ImgBurn but I am not sure about CCD. Honestly I have only used CCD once in the last year and prior to that I had not used it regularly since Ollie sold the rights. ImgBurn is simply capable of more (and ever so slightly more reliable) so I stick with that.
Burning on the fly isn't going to solve anything. Even if the disc worked, it would only prove that your problem is sporadic. There's no technical issue that burning on the fly would resolve.
I still feel burning at 2.4x opposed to the 8x rated disc could be causing an issue.
(Immatoity asked me the other day, thats how I know 2.4x)

Burning slower than the rating would certainly not cause any issues. As it is, many discs these days are not even able to burn reliably up to their rated speeds. Still, verifying the burn(s) would tell us if the burn is even good at all.

true for any other disc than a dual layer, i read it on a wiki ages ago, dual layers are actually better burn @ there rated speed, plus i think i remember reading a bit of investigation over at club-cdfreaks
however, i just burn @ 4x if i can and dont normally have any probs, and i certainly wouldnt pay extra for verbs (shiite imho).
your problem could be the layer break, however clone cd should work just fine doing a straight copy.
either way try this.
make an image of your backup with any software you like (imgburn recommended) and name it this :
"360.iso"
then open a new text document and copy and paste this into it then save it as "360.dvd"
heres what to copy into it :
LayerBreak=1913760
360.iso
once saved pop the .DVD file into the same folder as your image file and then open the .DVD file with image burn, set to whichever speed you like and burn.
or alternatively, on image burn goto
tools>settings>write>options>
and the option for "layer break (for dual layer)
enter this number
1913760
and hit ok, this will burn every dual layer with the layer break set to this custom layerbreak.Tehn just open you r ISO backup with imageburn and burn
