Been wondering about buying a cheap 360 off ebay with RROD fault.

If i get one cheap enough, can I then just send it back to microsoft for them to repair it free? do i need to register it with them first or anything like that?

Do i have to get one that has still got the warranty sticker in-tact?

Cheers in advance

If it's been registered to a previous owner or there are signs the case has been opened, they won't repair it at all.

Best bet is to ask the seller for the serial number on the back then input that in the 360 website red rings form and it will say weather you are ok to return for repair .

just for info, i got one with an E74 fault the other day for £20.

just had it returned from MS (i said it had an intermitant 3RROD fault ;) ) , it's a brand new replacement console with manufacturing date of 21/08/08 and a whole new serial!!!

this one i sent back was like 05/12/05! lol

unfortunately it's come back with a liteon though.
