Did you make sure the DMA is enabled on your burner? Have you updated your firmware recently? Have you tried burning with another program?

Do you have another program that you could try a burning with? If nothing else this would help us narrow down whether it is a software or burner issue.

Recordnow Max or Nero should do it.

ive just looked at some other threads and it goes on about aspi layers, my settings in decrypter are spti-nt etc, that ive never changed, could this be anything?

ive had this burner for about a year and never had problems or changed any settings

Funny, I've been getting similar errors with Disc Juggler sporaically, using the same burner, different media.

Can you burn non image files with other burning software ?
Have you tried another brand of disk or one from a different batch ? ... first thing to try IMO

To check your DMA settings :

Device Manager/IDE ATA Atapi Controllers/Primary IDE ... Right Click/Properties/Advanced
Repeat for Secondary IDE

I assume you were asking cocker92, but I'll jump in here anyway. :D

Now that you mention it, I only have problems when burning images. Only happened about 3-4 times out of the last 30-40 DVD-Rs, but annoying nonetheless. Tried Ritek and Opto both for DVD-R, both same result. DVD-Rs fail during the lead-in if they're going to fail, almost immedioately.

For CD-R, I have an ongoing problem which occurred on all 8 different media types I tested. "Device Not Ready" during finalize on CD-R/-RW ... but not that problem on DVD.

UDMA2 enabled for both devices on the 2nd channel. Pio is the master.

I guess it could be the first signs of the 105 dying, is it running hacked f/w ? .... also have you defragged recently ?

FW is original, v1.33 I defrag constantly using O&O. Counting all partitions (over 2 physical drives), I have 11 drives. heh Fragmentation on the drives is 3%, 5% and the other 9 are < 1% fragmentation. I have considered sending to Pio for a repair/replace ... what would I get back as they no longer make the 105? Would be sweet if I got a 107 in return. ;)

Sounds like one of two things ...

Either the drive has an intermittant fault and is on it's way out or ......
You may have picked up a batch of dodgy media, where some work & some dont.

Have you tried a different batch of disks ? ..... Can you try the Burner in another PC ?
