reading problem

hi guys got a modded 360 for while now
lately some of the game wont load saying the disc is unreadable (trying cleaning disc or restart console)
some also work for a while then crash saying the above message
the discs are all verbs and most were working fine until about a week ago
no its only some of the games are working
anyone any ideas if so ho do i fix and how much

Something similar is happening to me.
I have 3 xbox 360s in my house and the newest modded one has had problems with Gears 2 and Fallout 3 this week. I get the same error as above.
Yet on the other 2 consoles there is no such problem.

My newest console that they dont work with i has one of the latest drives that were not moddable until recently....

any ideas?

one of the games that wont work is fallout 3 aswell so might be same problem

Wouldn't get too paranoid (though who knows it might be sinister :-) ), it might be that the data is arranged on the disc in a non uniform manner that puts the laser under more duress. If you have a p!ss poor laser, it might not be up to the task of seeking back and forth. Some games trouble a 360 more than others.
I remember last year I had a Sammy that worked with every game 100% apart from COD 4 online. After a match when I got kicked back to a lobby it would DRE. I tried 4 burned coppies (all Verbs) and it was the same with each one. Eventually a laser replacement was all I could do.

Lasers around £15 it's not hard to fit yer own.
