Vista to XP (probably been asked before, sorry)

i know this question has probably been asked before, i did a quick search but couldnt pull up anything.

ok i've decided that my Laptop can't handle vista, as im fed up of the constant go-slow's and having to restart,

i have an iso image of XP Professional that we can get as part of MSDN through our University, and i know i can format the computer and boot the iso image, but just wondering how and how reliable it is to force a downgrade?

If you fresh install Windows XP by formatting the hard drive and start everything fresh, you will need to make sure you have the XP drivers for all hardware components (video, audio, LAN, touchpad, etc.). Please tell the make/model of the laptop if you need more help to find the drivers.

ok i do have the startup disc for my laptop back at home, so i will wait a week or 2 before I actually do it then.
