whats the worst that can happen.. on there page for free repairs it says that they will just send it back to me... has anyone tried this and does anyone think its even worth trying... i have no idea how to fix this myself.

Is it chipped or has the drive just been flashed? I sent my flashed xbox back and they repaired it no probs. I had to pay to get it relfashed mind - buggers didn't pay for that! :)

Get the chip taken out if you cant do it yourself then have someone else do it before you send it back I had the laser go out on mine and then got the RROD after about a year and a half I uninstalled my chip before I sent it back I just got notice that it was repaired and is comming back.

PS I didnt have the warranty sticker on it any more and the silver tape on the dvd drive was crinkly

I'll let you know what happens once it arrives

Also I mailed it on the 6th and I went to see the status of the xbox website and they are shipping it back today

I will flash the drive instead of reinstalling the chip though
I like soldering stuff but flashing the drtive is soooooo much easier :)

recently they've been sending modded ones back unrepaired so it's best to get it unmodded first.

You really wont need a diagram the wires will be connected to the chip all you will have to do is disconnect the wires and remove the chip I had a samsung and it was 5 wires
