Can anyone recommend a good free web based email supplier?
The isp I will be moving to provides a pop3 service but I would have to pay more per month and I would rather not do that.I have Yahoo account which I use for forums such as this but it gets deluged by spam. The new addy will be used by my wife and I only for emailing friends and family and work.I would rather stay away from Hotmail and Yahoo if possible. It would also be nice I f I could collect my mail using Outlook. Is such a thing possible

Thanks

I use www.Lavabit.com (http://www.Lavabit.com) , they provide free / anonymous pop3, imap and webmail. It's pretty much spam free and is an excellent service.

Gmail is another alternative but it's important to keep in mind no webmail service is totally secure and if anyone does get in there (unlikely but possible - it happened to me a couple of years ago) they will have access to your personal emails. Gmail / Hotmail / Yahoo are the big players in webmail so they attract more spam etc. Gmail is also accessible from outlook etc.

I tend to keep Gmail accounts for non personal stuff and the lavabit accounts for sensitive material like online shopping etc.

np's

I used to have a gmx account a few years ago before they switched to german only language but it ended up getting buried with spam so I wrote it off. Don't know if it's the same now tho.

Just had a quick look and it's a lot easier to use now they cater for other languages again - might get myself an account as the gmx.com is a nice easy email domain.

EDIT: Just signed up for a GMX account and I really like the web interface - defiantely a good contender for gmail - thxs for the heads up I would never have thought of trying gmx again ;)
