I've recently reinstalled Windows XP onto a machine.

I get this if I run Everest (http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc97/yourcodenameisnick/sound.jpg)

Although I cannot find the correct drivers for this motherboard.

Please try the XP driver for the Intel 82801eb ICH5 here (http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/rc/rc_drive.htm).

Are you using an add-on soundcard? Let me see if I can find a soundmax driver for you.

Let's try this (http://driverbyte.com/soundmax-ac-97-audio_download/). If this does not work for your board, try this one (http://www.radarsync.com/software/s225661-soundmax_control_center).

Thanks for the links, but all attempts at installation result in the same "Driver not found, reboot and try again".

Then try the Realtek driver (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldId=8198&lang=eng). The problem is you can't tell what motherboard you have. I believe your board might not be an Intel board even though it uses the Intel chipset.

I've just tried this.

Now itunes opens with an error stating that it may not work because it disagrees with the sound settings.

I've ordered a sound card, that should be delivered some time next week, so hopefully that will solve my problem.

Did you try the audio driver from this page (http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=P4i65G&s=478)?
