Having problems lately with my pc so hoping someone will have some sort of idea whats happening.Last week my graphics card packed up so i robbed one from the kids pc,i put that in and it started to run slow and crashing.I thought maybe the drivers were conflicting so i reformatted the pc and started a fresh.I've done that but after a while the pc just locks up and i've got to hold the button in on the tower to turn it off and restart it again.I really need to get a new one which hopfully i can do in a couple of weeks time, looking at getting a pre built ,machine from scan or ebuyer.I want to get a duel core but not sure what i need to buy eg memory, board graphics card ect.So if anyones got any idea what could be causing the pc to lock up can you let me because this is really doing my head in now. Thanks in advance vern

There are some possibilities like overheating of the CPU, bad RAM, bad PSU, bad video card. Your old video card might not be the cause and it might still be good.

Thanks for the reply m8,the reason i thought it was first down to the card is the screen kept going funny with lines on and it would get worst and then i'd restart and it would be ok.Since i put the card in i've never had the problem again with the screen just freezing now,tbh don't really want to start buying more bits because hopefully in 2 weeks time i've got the cash to buy new

Try to update the driver for the video card.
