View Full Version : Is it ok to log on to XBL with a modded 360?

Hi all.

I've got a modded 360 but with the non stealth firmware. I know I can't go on line to play multiplayer games, but can I still log on to XBL and download XBLA games legtimately? As in - can I go on XBLA and use MS points to an XBLA game without the system realising I'm using a modded 360?

Using Xbox Live with a modified console runs the risk of being banned

USING, as in, using it even if only speaking to friends on MSN on there

However, there has never been 1 single shred of proof nor any technical evidence to support the notion that M$ can detect a modded console while playing a legitimate retail disc.

There have been plenty of people banned with completely unmodified consoles though seemingly by mistake. I think you "run the risk" just by having an XBL account.

So you've never heard of anyone being banned for legitimately downloading an XBLA game using a modded 360?

The general opinion is that if you're online with a retail disc or no disc you won't be banned because they check the disc, not the firmware.

So what about your gamer score?

If you play a game that is not out and you sign in to XBL with out the game in to play a real game that you bough. Would they not look for the accounts that have a gamer score for the new games that have not been released?

No,

they may use that as an inicator but, I had PGGR 4 before it came out - not on DVD+R

It's logical but I've never personally known anyone who has been banned for playing games prior to release on XBL.

As has been said in every single other thread about banning - if banning is going to be the end of your life, don't mod your console. If you can't live with the possibility of wrecking your car, don't drive.
